A core ingredient in our success is the spiritual dimension. This and our focus on families led to the creation of what we believe is the country’s only Parish of Offenders. There was no blueprint for a Parish of Offenders; it is an AH invention.

Two weekend Masses are jammed by more than 300 people. Baptisms, Marriages, First Communions, even funerals are held in the chapel, which is reminiscent of a storefront. Adults hold fast to squirming children. The Parish has retreats, religious education and Bible classes for adults and 100 children, prayer groups, a neighborhood outreach program, a parish bulletin—everything you would expect in a typical Catholic parish, except a collection. Instead, parishioners donate their services (as cleaners, laborers, babysitters) – all they can.
